BOY SCOUTS TO HOST OPEN HOUSE

Boy Scout Troop 101 of Cheyenne is cordially inviting any interested youth or adults to an open house to learn about its Scouting Programs. This event will be held at the Lions Park Scout Lodge, located at the northwest corner of Sloan’s Lake in Lions Park, 4427 Lions Park Drive. The get acquainted event will be from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 7th, 2022.

Troop 101 is Wyoming’s oldest established Scout Troop having served Cheyenne since 1915. Troop 101 has a traditional scout troop for young men, 10-18. Also affiliated with the Troop is Crew 101, a Scouting BSA high adventure based coed activity for 14-to-21-year boys and girls.

Scoutmaster Phil Flores commented, “We hope that all youth – and their parents- that are interested in scouting from ages 5 to 21 will come out and see what Troop 101 is all about. The troop is looking at expanding our activities so we would be glad to talk with those interested in the Cub Scout Program as well as traditional Scouting. We also have some ability to involve young ladies in scouting. Essentially, we are inviting anyone interested in Scouting’s outdoor activities, merit badge programs and community involvement to come out and visit with us.”

Troop 101 typically does an outdoor camp out or similar activity each month. The Troop also tries to be involved in a community service activity each month. A highlight of the year is a weeklong Summer Camp. This year’s summer camp will be at Camp Buffalo Bill located at the east entrance to Yellowstone National Park.
